Who is this Piccola Italiana character?

Ciao, I’m Picco. No seriously, that’s my real name. It looks really weird on the birth certificate… I am a teenage 20something girl and this is my blog. I started it with the goal of cooking my way through the Italian cookbook, The Silver Spoon, before I graduated from high school. But, as usual, things don’t go the way I’d like them to. In spring of 2011, my little sister was diagnosed with Celiac Disease-meaning she can’t eat gluten (wheat, malt, barley etc.). So this blog has kind of branched off into me making gluten-free food for her. I blogged a bit in college, but decided to start up again now that I’m in grad school. I’ll still post gluten-free recipes occasionally, but I figured out that movies about college are completely unrealistic because they never mention the soul-crushing debt you’ll be in. Therefore any food I’ll be making will be on a currently unemployed grad school student budget.

Feel free to comment! I like comments. Seriously. When I get comments, my heart goes pitter-patter…or something like that. If you can’t think of anything to say, “I want to be as cool as you when I grow up” is always a good option.

  1. Sounds like a great idea to me. I know someone else who is going through a recipe book and cooking all the recipes from it. :-)

My visit to your blog is part of my blog challenge this week. Your blog will be mentioned in my next post.

I’m sending out a challenge to bloggers in the WordPress Challenge to take part in the RandomBlog2011 Challenge. You can read more about it in my post.

  3. I LOVE the idea behind this blog! I’ve added you to my blog roll.

I’m hardly the chef that you are, but I enjoy cooking too! I have only gotten around to one recipe so far on my blog though, focaccia!

    • Thanks!!!

*psh* I’m hardly a chef. But I guess I can fake it pretty well… convincing, no???

Focaccia. Yum yum yum. I had that for the first time the other day and it was ahhh-mazing. But then again, I think that almost all food is amazing.. ;)

Hold up, you live in Italy!?!? JEALOUS.

  4. I LOVE the blog. You are so talented, my little italiana bella! Keep it up! I’m so proud of your cooking, your writing, and your obvious talent for the pen.

    • Weeellll, look who finally started reading my blog ;) It’s only been 4 months… joking!

Thank you soooooo much! I really, really appreciate you reading my stuff :) And try not to fall off the face of the planet anymore, ok? Even if you are sick.

And what is your name supposed to mean? la_zita_chi_e_confuso_per_la_zita_christina???? Are you trying to rub it in that you know Italian and I don’t? HUH?!?!?

  5. Wow…we DO sound alike!! I have an Italian cookbook stashed in my closet…because, well, Italy and Italian EVERYTHING is amazing!!! I’m totally sticking around this blog. :D

  6. You’re so awesome ;)

Okay, seriously, this blog is *amazing* and it makes me wish I had more patience with cooking so I could try some of these. I’m glad you found my blog so I could find yours!!! (How DID you find it, btw?)

Anywho, you sound awesome. And you have a new subscriber! I’ll be baaaaack! xD

    • Shhhh. Did you hear that? It’s the sound of my heart going pitter-patter with happiness over your comment.

Well, you know, I try. I usually wish I could have more patience with cooking too… Honestly, I can’t remember. I feel like it was through Tia Rising at Holding the Future Hostage? My memory is pretty wonky. Anyway, I love your blog too :)

Cool people are invited back anytime, so stay awesome.

  9. Wonderful blog there, Picco. It’s great to read through your words. I love everything Italian, especially food. I’m looking forward to coming back :)

    Keep writing, stay inspired!

    PS: you’re so awesome!

    • Ah, someone who shares my admiration for food. I’m definitely looking forward to having you back.

Oh and thank you. It’s always nice to hear people proclaim my awesomeness ;)

  10. Dear P- there is nothing wrong with Batman checks, nor polka dot checks. And even those of us who have written checks for a long time forget if there is a u in 40 sometimes! Did you see my notice about the Blog of the Year Award for 2012? You should put the badge on your sidebar…
